KINGSTON, R.I. - The Rhode Island baseball team dropped a 7-1 decision to Saint Louis, Friday afternoon at Bill Beck Field. Juniors Greg Annarummo and Milan Adams each recorded two hits in the loss.

The Billikens (20-10, 2-2) jumped out to an early lead with three runs in the top of the first, but URI came back in the bottom half of the frame when redshirt sophomore Pat Fortunato crossed the plate on a single up the middle by Annarummo.

Rhody (14-13, 2-3) went on to commit back-to-back errors in the top of the second, allowing Saint Louis to tally a pair of unearned runs and take a 5-1 lead. The Rams - who stranded one runner in the third and one in the fourth - then failed to put a runner on base until the top of the ninth.

Meanwhile, the Billikens tacked on another run in the sixth and one more in the eighth to seal the 7-1 victory.

Redshirt junior Chris Pickering took the loss, giving up five runs (two earned) over 5.0 innings of work. Freshman Liam O'Sullivan came on two away in the eighth and closed out the game by retiring the first four batters he faced. Alex Alemann earned the win for SLU as he allowed just one run over nine complete innings.

The Rams and Billikens return to Bill Beck Field for a 1 p.m. game on Saturday afternoon.
