Setting the Scene
Rhode Island competed in the first day of the two-day Larry Ellis Invitational on Friday.

Rhode Island Results 

• Senior Genevieve Rybicki threw a distance of 152'11 in the discus to place second in the event. The mark qualifies her for both the New England and ECAC championships.
• Rybicki also finished fifth in the hammer throw (175'11). Teammate Emily Moorehead finished in seventh (171'3). Both athletes' distances were New England and ECAC qualifying marks. Freshman Grace Janes qualified for New England's with a distance of 155'7.
• Frankie Brillante finished 15th out of 52 in the 800m run with a time of 2:13.06. The time qualifies her for the New England Championship. 
• Senior Hayley Madsen finished the 1500m run in 4:33.68 for 20th place out of 41 and a New England mark.
