Setting the Scene
Rhode Island came in first place out of six total teams this weekend in the 18th Annual Harold Anderson Invitational. The Rams had 1033) points for the meet, which was good enough to beat out Maine (641), Assumption (565), Bryant (565), Providence (382), Holy Cross (264). The meet victory is the eighth straight Harold Anderson Invitational to go in favor of the Rams.

Rhode Island Highlights

  • Seven meet records were broken by Rhode Island swimmers this weekend:
  • Jessica Andruzzi set a meet record on the 200yd breaststroke, winning the event with a time of 2:21.54. The previous mark was 2:22.83.
  • Carly Deliberty won the 100yd breaststroke event with a time of 1:05.22, breaking the previous record of 1:05.49.
  • Porshe' Ferrell broke her own record in the 50yd freestyle event with a time of 24.05, eight hundreds of a second faster than the time she set last year.
  • Lauren Folkert set the record in the 200yd backstroke with a time of 2:04.47, nearly a full second faster than the previous record, 2:05.13.
  • Chaya Zabludoff continued her great start to the 2014 season, setting two records at this weekend's meet. Zabludoff won both the 100yd and 200yd freestyle finals, with a time of 50.78 in the 100yd event and 1:50.45 in the 200yd event. Both of these times are nearly two seconds faster than the previous records (52.28, 1:52.15).
  • Rhode Island's 200yd freestyle relay team, made up of Ferrell, Collette Aubin, Sarah Keshishian, and Bridget Whalen won the event with a time of 1:36.90, breaking the previous record of 1:37.16.

The Rams' next meet comes on December 6, 2014 when Rhody will host the Bryant Bulldogs in another battle of Rhode Island in-state rivals. The Rhody-Bryant meet will take place at 11:00 a.m.
