How It Happened
Ryan Oakley put the Rams on top 1-0 in the 33rd minute when he blasted a shot into the top right corner from 25 yards out.

The Dukes' best chance came in the 67th minute when Kadeem Pantophlet was awarded a penalty kick. However, URI's Nils Leifhelm blocked the shot to keep the Rams on top. Overall, Leifhelm turned away a 11 shots to post his eighth shutout of the season.

With a 7-1-0 record in the Atlantic 10, the Rams have become the first program in the history of the A-10 to win the regular season title after going winless (0-8) the year before. Additionally, prior to Rhody's 2014 turnaround, no A-10 team had ever posted more than three league victories a year after going winless in conference play.

Rhode Island - which has earned its sixth regular season crown and first since 2005 - will enter next week's Atlantic 10 Championship as the No. 1 seed. The Rams will face eighth-seeded Dayton in the tournament opener, Thursday at 11 a.m.
