How It Happened
Rhode Island (4-3-2) extended its unbeaten streak to four matches, playing in-state rival Bryant to a 1-1 tie Wednesday. It is the first time Rhody has gone four matches without a loss since 2009, when the Rams beat Duquesne, George Washington and Richmond in succession before tying Charlotte.
The Rams got on the board first with a goal from senior Matt Sykes in the 26th minute. Off a corner kick, freshman Carlo Davids drilled the crossbar with a shot, and Sykes was able to head in the rebound for his fourth goal of the season.
Bryant (3-4-1) evened the score in the 78th minute when Lucas Guerriero lofted in a free kick from 20 yards out. The shot went just over the outstretched hand of Rhody keeper Nils Leifhelm to the upper right corner.
Davids nearly got the winner for Rhode Island in the 81st minute when his left-footed shot beat the keeper but went just wide of the net.
