Setting the Scene

The Rhode Island Rams were defeated for the first time since November 8 as they fell to A10 foes Massachusetts and George Washington over the weekend.

Rhode Island Highlights

  • Lauren Folkert was victorious in the 100yd backstroke, finishing in 59.17 seconds as the only swimmer to break the one minute-mark. Hannah Homans finished third in the same event, (1:00.78).
  • Folkert also won the 200yd backstroke, (2:07.93), edging out UMass' top finisher by less than .5 seconds.
  • The team of Sarah Keshishian, Kate Snyder, Bridget Whalen, and Caitlin Haggan won the 200yd freestyle relay in 1:40.21.
  • Snyder placed third in the 50yd freestyle, finishing in 25.29s. In the same event, Haggan finished sixth in 25.42.
  • Keshishian tied for second in the 200yd freestyle event, (1:57.50), and placed fifth out of 19 swimmers in the 500yd freestyle event, finishing in 5:16.24.
  • The 400yd medley relay team of Folkert, Carly Deliberty, Snyder, and Whalen finished third in a time of 4:02.50.
  • Whalen, (2:12.97), Folkert, (2:13.00), and Thomesen, (2:14.07), finished 5-6-7 in 200yd individual medley event that featured 17 swimmers.
  • Thomesen, Rachel Revolinski, Colette Aubin, and Haggan tied for second place in the 200yd medley relay, getting edged out by .09 seconds by a team from GW.
  • Revolinski placed third in the 100yd breaststroke, finishing less than a half-second behind the winner.
  • Jessica Andruzzi placed third in the 200yd breaststroke, (2:27.16), while Whalen was third in the 200yd butterfly, (2:10.56).

The Rams will host the Wagner Seahawks on Saturday, January 17, 2015. The first event of the meet will begin at 1:00 p.m.
