How It Happened
Rhode Island (6-5-2, 1-1-1) got a par of first-half goals from Emil Jesman Sunde to take a 2-0 lead into the break. Ryan Bailey set up the Rams' first tally, which Jesman Sunde lined over SJU's Bobby Edwards for the early advantage. Six minutes later, Ryan Oakley worked his way into the six-yard box where he found Jesman Sunde, who one-timed a left-footed shot into the back of the net to put Rhode Island on top 2-0.
The Hawks (3-9-1, 1-2-0) cut URI's lead in half in the 65th minute when Emmanuel Temeh scored off assists from Tim Lazorko and Kevin Lockhart, but that was as close as it would get.
