How It Happened
After a scoreless first half, Dominik Richter nearly put the Rams on the board in the 50th minute as he had beat an off-line Jack Lopez, but GW defender Sam Summerlin slid across the goal line just in time to prevent Richter's shot from rolling in. Ten minutes later, Richter took the ball down the left wing, once again drawing Lopez out of the goal. This time however, his shot found the back of the net to put Rhody up 1-0 with 30 minutes remaining. Carlo Davids was credited with an assist on the play.
The Colonials nearly knotted the score two minutes later, but Garrett Heine's shot hit the crossbar to keep the Rams on top.
The Rhode Island defense - backstopped by goalkeeper Nils Leifhelm - managed to thwart the remainder of George Washington's chances, leading the Rams to their fourth clean sheet of the season.
