How It Happened
Fordham scored the lone goal go the game in the 18th minute when Jannik Loebe took advantage of a defensive breakdown and slipped a pass to Andres Penfold, who then beat URI's Nils Leifhelm to put the visiting Rams on the board. Rhody outshot Fordham 4-2 for the half, but was unable to put an attempt on frame.
Still trailing by one with 16 minutes remaining in regulation, URI subbed out a defender for an extra attacker, but Fordham's Rashid Nuhu stopped both Rhode Island shots that followed - one by Ryan Oakley and one by Wesley Matthews - to preserve the shutout.
