How It Happened
Liam Daley's first career goal put Rhode Island up 1-0 in the 27th minute as he beat La Salle's Mike Kirk with a shot to upper right 90. Emil Jesman Sunde - whose initial shot was stopped by Kirk - was credited with the assist on the play.
Shortly after the break, Joe Farrell put away a cross from Tony Daniele to even the score at one apiece. The Explorers nearly got a go-ahead goal in the 82nd minute when Sixtus Akinlosotu's shot hit off the post.
Still knotted at 1-1 after 90 minutes of regulation, Rhody and La Salle headed to overtime, where Mike Casey netted the game-winner just 22 seconds in. Carlo Davids and Wesley Matthews picked up assists on the goal, finding Casey in front of the goal for the 2-1 victory.
