Rhode Island improved to 4-0 on the season as they had a clean sweep at the Ed & Judy Golden Invitational. The Rams defeated the Black Bears, 162-122, and took down the Pride, 174-117.
Highlights From the Pool
- Rhode Island began the meet strong with a first-place finish in the first event of the day, the 200-yard medley relay. The winning team, consisting of Lauren Folkert, Carly DeLiberty, Caitlyn Blake and Eliza Anderson, won with a time of 1:50.00.
- It was the second week in a row that the Rhody dive team swept the diving events. Freshman Katy Evans won 1-meter diving with a score of 231.00, while senior Maria Smirnov took first in 3-meter diving with a 247.25.
- Freshman Sabrina Anderson won the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:48.53. This is the second time this season that Anderson has won this event, with the first time coming against La Salle in the season opener.
- Freshman Emma Grace Pecha came in second in the 1000-yard freestyle with a 10:59.22.
- Junior Hannah Homans won the 100-yard backstroke, posting the only sub-minute in the event with a 57.48.
- Sophomore Nicole Petta took the top spot in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07.05.
- Freshman Caitlin Guccione won the second collegiate event of her career with a victory in the 200-yard butterfly.
- Senior Lauren Folkert won the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:08.37. Homans finished second in the event with a 2:09.60.
- Junior Sydney Williams continued with her strong comeback from injury by winning the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:15.50.
- Senior Bridget Whalen and sophomore Caitlyn Blake were the only two swimmers in the 100-yard butterfly to register sub-minute times. Whalen swam a 59.84, while Blake registered a 59.97.

Up Next
Rhody will be on the road for the first time this season, as they travel to Providence next Friday, Nov. 4, to take on the Friars in a dual meet. The meet is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.
