How it Happened
Fordham (10-6-3) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute when a long service into the box by Christopher Bazzini deflected off Dante Lamb and fell to the feet of Ole Sandnes. Sandnes then one-timed a shot into the goal for the early advantage.
Rhode Island (8-11-1) forced Fordham's Rashid Nuhu to make three first-half saves, but was unable to equalize before the half.
Play continued to get more physical as the second half progressed - with Rhody being issued a pair of yellows and Fordham picking up its third and fourth of the game - before Lamb was issued a straight red in the 66th minute.
Eight minutes later, Fordham doubled its lead when Jannik Loebe buried a rebound off a save by Nils Leifhelm. Sandnes later scored his second of the night in the 84th minute. A minute later, Emil Jesman Sunde was issued a red card and Loebe scored on the ensuing penalty kick to finish off the 4-0 Fordham win.
