Rhody Earns First Win of Season over Springfield, U.S. Coast Guard Academy

Results: 
Rhode Island defeated Springfield College 164-134. 
Rhode Island also defeated the U.S. Coast Guard Academy 199-96.

Highlights from the Pool:

  • The Rams took first place in 9 of the 24 events. 
  • Finished first or second in 17 of the 24 events
  • Senior Hannah Homans finished first in the 100-yard backstroke and the 200-yard backstroke, and second in the 200-yard Medley. Her 211:37.11 time in the 200-yard backstroke was nearly four seconds better than that of the second place finisher.
  • Junior Nicole Petta's 1:06:60 time in the 100-yard breastroke won her first place. She also finished first in the 200-yard breastroke, and narrowingly finished second in the 200-yard individual medley.
  • Sophomore Katy Evans finished second in the 1 and 3 meter event, with times of 227.40 and 244.15, respectively. 
  • Teammates Grace Kneller, Nicole Petta, Caitlyn Blake, and Eliza Anderson earned first place in the 200-yard medley relay with a 1:50.96 time.
  • The Rams took second in the 200-yard medley relay as well that included Hannah Homans, Rebecca Younts, Caitlin Guccione, and Kendra Graham.
  • Guccione, a sophomore, won the 200-yard butterfly event with a 2:11.64 time. 
  • Freshman Brooke Kelley finished second in the 200-yard butterfly and the 200-yard breaststroke.
  • Sophomore Emma Grace Pecha's 5:21.49 time finished first in the 500-yard freestyle.
  • Graham, Mackenna Dunn, Guccione, and Grace together finished second in 200-yard freestyle relay.

What's Next
Rhode Island will be home for the first time this season as they host Providence College in Kingston on Friday, October 3rd. The meet is set for 4 p.m.
