Day Two Results
The Rhode Island women's swimming & diving team finished day two of the Atlantic 10 Women's Swimming & Diving Championship with a new school record in the 200-meter relay and in ninth place with 81.5 points.
Along with the 200-yard freestyle relay, Rhody swimmers also competed in the 500-yard freestyle, the 200-yard individual medley and the 50-yard freestyle.
Highlights From the Pool
- The 200-yard freestyle relay team of Eliza Anderson, Bridget Whalen, Grace Kneller and Carly DeLiberty broke the old school record by over half a second with 1:34.08. They finished seventh in the event.
- Sophomore Eliza Anderson finished tied for sixth in the finals of the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 23.53.
- Senior Carly DeLiberty was on the edge of qualifying for the 50-yard freestyle finals, finishing 18th overall with a time of 23.98.
- Sophomore Grace Kneller was the only other Ram to crack the top 30, taking the 21st spot with a time of 24.10.
- Junior Sydney Williams just missed the cut for the finals of the 500-yard freestyle, taking 21st in the preliminaries with a time of 5:03.47.
- Freshman Emma Grace Pecha finished 27th in the 500-yard freestyle with a 5:05.14. Rounding out the Rams in the event were freshmen Sabrina Anderson and Maddie Horner, who swam it in 5:11.76 and 5:17.69, respectively.
- Senior Bridget Whalen was the highest-placing Ram in the 200-yard individual medley. Whalen took 24th with a time of 2:07.05.
- Fellow senior Lauren Folkert (2:07.90), as well as sophomore Nicole Petta (2:09.65) and freshman Mackenna Dunn (2:09.92), also competed in the 200-yard individual medley. Folkert finished 30th, Petta finished 35th and Dunn took 36th.
Up Next
The Rams head back to the pool again tomorrow, Feb. 17, for the 400-yard individual medley, the 100-yard butterfly, the 200-yard freestyle, the 100-yard breaststroke, the 100-yard backstroke and 3-meter diving. The trials for the swimmers are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. while the trials for 3-meter diving will start at 1 p.m. The finals for all events will begin at 6:30 p.m.
