How It Happened
After a scoreless first half, Rhode Island (3-2-2) nearly got on the board three minutes in to the second frame when Emil Jesman Sunde's shot from the top of the box went just wide of the right post. Nils Leifhelm was tested for the first time of the game in the 56th minute, and again in the 58th, but stopped both attempts by Brown's Nico Lozada.
Dominik Richter came close to breaking the deadlock in the 72nd minute, but his header skimmed just wide to keep the score knotted at 0-0. Leifhelm came up big again in the 86th minute, smothering a shot by Quinn English at the near post.
The Bears (4-1-1) carried the momentum into overtime with Toby Howell blasting a shot which was stopped by Leifhelm in the 92nd minute. Chae Brangman had Rhody's best chance with :40 remaining the first overtime period, but was robbed by Brown goalkeeper Joey Cipicchio.
