Rhode Island falls to Vermont 154-143

Highlights from the Pool:

  • Rhode Island won 10 of the 16 events Saturday. 
  • On her Senior Day, Hannah Homans placed first in the 100-yard backstroke (58.12) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:06.81). 
  • Sydney Williams, the second and only other senior on the team, took second in the 1000-yard freestyle (10:54.10).
  • Junior Nicole Petta finished first in the 100-yard breastroke (1:05.48) and the 200-yard breastroke (2:25.18). She also third in the 200-yard individual medley (2:17.19).
  • Sophomore Caitlin Guccione placed first in the 100-yard butterfly (58.95) and the 200-yard butterfly (2:09.55). 
  • Sophomore Maddie Horner finished first in the 200-yard freestyle (1:56.33, personal best). 
  • Sophomore Alyssa Campone took first in the 1-meter dive (218.55). Freshman Cameron Murray finished second (214.87) and sophomore Katy Evans finished third (214.72).
  • Evans placed first in the 3-meter dive (222.37). 
  • Freshman Kelly Blake took third in both the 50-yard freestyle (25.17) and the 100-yard butterfly (59.58).
  • Sophomore Mackenna Dunn, junior Eliza Anderson, Blake, and junior Grace Kneller finished first in the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:40.79). Rhode Island took second and third in the event as well. 
  • Homans, Petta, Guccione, and Dunn placed second in the 200-yard medley relay (1:48.30).

Rhode Island returns to the pool at home against Bryant on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at 6:30 p.m.
