Rhody Competes at BU Season Opener, UConn Heptathlon

Rhode Island had two competitors at UConn for the Heptathlon this past Thursday and Friday while the rest of the squad traveled to Boston for the BU Season Opener on Saturday.

  • Jack Reichenbach placed first in the long jump with a mark of 7.03 meters. Eric Wicks was third (6.87m), Garrett Robinson was fourth (6.86m), Trevor Rooney was fifth (6.71m), and Tyler Costeira was sixth (6.63m).
  • Rooney finished fifth in the triple jump with a 14.20 mark. Orion Joyner was sixth (13.93m) and Robinson was seventh (13.40m).
  • Kellen Waters was fourth in the mile run in 4:09.72.
  • Anthony Delasanta placed third in the 400 meters with a time of 48.79 seconds. Dimitri Pray was ninth (50.56s), Justin Marsland finished 11th (51.17s) and Jordan Ross was 13th (51.37s).
  • Callan Davies placed third n the 60 meter hurdles (8.34s). Ryan Curtis was sixth (8.63s) and Scott Honicker was seventh (8.65s).
  • Roniel Mata was sixth in the 600 meters, finishing in 1:20.71. Maxwell Dickens was 11th in 1:21.53 and Seth Phillips was 14th in 1:22.56
  • La'Rue Martin finish fifth in the 60 meter dash finals with a time of 6.95 seconds.
  • In the 200 meters, Martin placed third in 22.01 seconds. Julian Thomson was sixth in 22.34 seconds, while Harold Corniel finished 13th (23.30s).
  • Ryan Curtis finished the 300 meters in 35.02 seconds, good for fourth place. Davies finished 10th in 35.60s and Joe Manetta was 13th (35.86s) and Scott Honicker was 18th (37.70s).
  • Nathan Coogan finished sixth in the 1000 meters with a time of 2:28.20. Nicholas Fitch was seventh (2:28.69), Tyler Rubush was 10th (2:30.08), and Seth Ketler finished 15th (2:31.64).
  • Brian Coyne was the top finisher for Rhody in the 3000 meters, finishing 22nd in 8:50.35.
  • The 4x400 meter relay team of Anthony Delasanta, Jordan Ross, Roniel Mata, and Maxwell Dickens placed second in 3:19.81.

  • Drew Nealey finished fifth overall with 4750 total points. He ran a 7.64 second 60 meter dash, had a 6.26m mark in the long jump, 11.99m throw in the shot put, 1.87m mark in the high jump, ran 9.05 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles, had a 4.40m mark in the pole vault, and finished the 1000 meters in 2:58.46.
  • Stephen Cirella was eighth with 4292 points. He ran the 60 meter dash in 7.77 seconds, had a 5.83m mark in the long jump, 13.70m throw in the shot put, 1.81m mark in the high jump, ran 9.30 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles, had a 4.00m mark in the pole vault, and finished the 1000 meters in 3:21.41.
