Coogan Wins 1000 Meter, Rhody Finishes Third at New England Championship

Rhody men's track and field finished third at the New England Championship with 104 total points.

Results from Friday

  • Nicholas Celico finished fourth in the 5000 meters with a time of 14:50.25. Matthew Vinacco was 13th (15:14.38), and Joe Maguire was 16th (15:20.17).
  • The distance medley relay team of Collin Ochs, Jordan Ross, Rock Fortna, and Kellen Waters placed second in 9:59.79.
  • D.J. Smalls and Zachary Nyhart both cleared 4.55 meters in the pole vault for sixth place. Gregory Potter was 10th with a mark of 4.40 meters.
  • Johnathan Buchanan placed third in the weight throw (18.15m) and Abraham Salako was 11th (16.70m).
  • Garrett Robinson placed third in the long jump with a mark of 7.25 meters.

  • Nathan Coogan was crowned champion in the 1000 meters with a time of 2:30.46.
  • The 4x400 meter relay team of Anthony Delasanta, Maxwell Dickens, Roniel Mata, and Jordan Ross placed first in 3:15.94.
  • Kellen Waters was sixth in the mile with a time of 4:14.74.
  • Eric Zulkofske placed fourth in the 3000 meter in 8:24.42. Ben Fleischer was 20th (8:44.73) and Brian Coyne was 28th (9:18.54).
  • Anthony Delasanta placed second in the 500 meter dash finals with a time of 1:04.90. Maxwell Dickens finished sixth in 1:05.35.
  • Nicholas Fitch was seventh in the 800 meter final in 1:54.74.
  • The 4x800 meter relay team of Collin Ochs, Rock Fortna, Sam Coppola, and Nicholas Fitch placed third in 7:41.65.

What's Next
The Rams return to competition this Saturday, Feb. 8 for the annual URI Coaches Tribute hosted by the Rams at Mackal Fieldhouse. Events are scheduled to begin at 11:00 a.m.
