Rhode Island is on top after the first day of competition at the Atlantic 10 Indoor Track and Field Championship with a total of 48 team points, just one point ahead of second-place George Mason (47).

From the Track
- Anthony Delasanta finished first in his heat in the 400 meters, qualifying for the final with a time of 49.12 seconds. Maxwell Dickens was also first in his heat with a qualifying time of 49.73 seconds.
- Delasanta also qualified for the 200 meter finals (21.90s). Julian Thomson will join him in the final after finishing first in his heat with a time of 22.45 seconds.
- Ryan Curtis qualified for Sunday's 60 meter hurdle finals with a time of 8.45 seconds.
- All three Rams that entered the 500 meter qualified for the final Sunday. Roniel Mata was first in his heat (1:04.93) and both Dimitri Pray (1:06.48) and Jordan Ross (1:06.81) were second in each of their heats respectively.
- La'Rue Martin was first in his heat with a qualifying time of 6.91 seconds in the 60 meter dash.
- Both Collin Ochs (1:54.83) and Sam Coppola (1:56.44) qualified for Sunday's 800 meter final.
- Nathan Coogan was second in his heat in the 1000 meter, qualifying for the finals with a time of 2:28.95.
- The distance medley relay team won in 10:10.36.
From the Field
- D.J. Smalls was runner-up in the pole vault with a mark of 4.91 meters. Isaiah Powers was third (4.65m), Zachary Nyhart was fourth (4.50m), and Gregory Potter was seventh (4.35m).
- In the weight throw, Johnathan Buchanan was the top finisher for Rhody, placing fourth with a mark of 18.71 meters. Jide Akinjisola placed seventh (17.49m) and Abraham Salako was 12th (15.49m).
- Garrett Robinson placed third in the long jump with a mark of 7.15 meters. Trevor Rooney was sixth (7.08m), Eric Wicks was eighth (6.95m), and Jack Reichenbach was ninth (6.94m).
Highlights from the Heptathlon
- Stephen Cirella is in second in the heptathlon with 2817 points from day one. He won the shot put with a mark of (14.07m) and finished fourth in the long jump (6.36m) and seventh in the 60 meter dash (7.61s).
- Drew Nealey ended day one in fifth place with 2585 points. He was third in the shot put (11.93m), seventh in the long jump (6.16m) and eighth in the 60 meter dash (7.62s).
