How it Happened
Rhode Island men's soccer dropped its season opener, falling 4-0 to Providence Saturday afternoon.

The Rams (0-1-0) held the Friars scoreless in the first half, but were unable to get an offense going with three shots on the frame. The teams were knotted 0-0 at the half. 

The Friars (1-0-0) got on the board eight minutes into the second half, scoring off a Gage Raftery goal assisted by Christopher Roman. Rhody's Artan Brovina had a shot on goal, but Rimi Olatunji made the save, his fourth of the game. Kevin Vang found Gevork Diarbian off a corner kick to double the Friar's lead, 2-0. Less than four minutes later Diarbian assisted a goal by Christopher Roman, and the Friars put the game away with their fourth goal in the 74th minute from Aidan Melville. The Rams were able to get a shot on goal by Zach Drayer, but it wasn't enough, as time expired.
