  • Rhody led the field of nine in par-4 scoring (+26) and total pars made (171).
  • Saint Joseph's was the only other Atlantic 10 team that competed in the tournament. The Hawks finished in seventh place (+60).
Individual Results
  • Redshirt senior Brandon Gillis finished in second place with a 5-under score of 205 (68-69-68). He was the only player among the field of 45 competitors to card three sub-70 rounds.
  • Gillis also led the field in birdies (13), a key factor in helping him finish just one stroke behind the individual medalist – Delaware's Roberto Nieves.
  • Junior Bryson Richards tied for third overall at 2-under. His three-round score of 208 (68-69-71) included the tournament's most pars made (42) and best par-4 scoring (-4).
  • Sophomore Andrew DiPetrillo finished in a two-way tie for 14th place. After shooting back-to-back 72s on Monday, he turned in a 74 on Tuesday to end 8-over (218).
  • Redshirt senior Jordan Brajcich jumped eight spots up the leaderboard in the final round of play, finishing tied for 28th overall at +15 (78-77-70=225).
  • Sophomore Jack Tegan tied for 32nd place with a three-round total of 228 (74-79-75), which put him at 18-over for the tournament.
Head Coach Gregg Burke Said...
  • We worked very hard to come back from eight down and take the lead but we just didn't play well enough to win down the stretch.
  • We didn't  go down there to have a great comeback or to come in second.  So we need a little more focus and a lot fewer doubles.
  • Obviously Brandon had a great tournament and another second place finish.  He is just starting to find himself and there are big things ahead for him.
  • Bryson did everything but score. Quite a statement about a player who tied for third.  He is very close to posting deep red numbers.
  • Jordy was exemplary today. He just didn't have it the first day but showed why he is special today.
  • We are really starting to believe in Jack Tegan even though his numbers are not there yet.  He is one of those kids who puts the team ahead of anything else.  He does the right thing all the time and for me, that is a player we want representing URI golf.
