Men's Soccer Hosts George Mason on Senior Night

**Prior to the start of the game, at 6:40 p.m., Rhode Island will hold a brief ceremony to recognize its five seniors: Patrick Agyemang, Edvin Akselsen, Braeden Cannon, Zach Drayer and Jordan Koduah.

THE RAMS (5-1-5, 1-1-2 Atlantic 10)
  • Despite having just one loss on the season, Rhode Island is currently in 10th place in the A-10 with the league's top-8 teams qualifying for its postseason tournament.
  • At 5-1-5 (1-1-2), URI is one of four A-10 teams with one or fewer losses. Dayton remains undefeated at 8-0-4 (2-0-3) while Duquesne is 9-1-3 (3-0-2) and UMass is 6-1-6 (1-0-4).
  • Their last time out, URI played to a 2-2 draw at La Salle. The Rams led 1-0 and 2-1 in the game, but allowed the Explorers to equalize twice. La Salle's final goal came with just 5:17 left to play, spoiling what looked to be a win for the Rams.
  • Patrick Agyemang currently leads the team with 12 points on five goals and two assists.
  • Rafa Villanueva is next with four goals and one assist for nine total points.
  • Edvin Akselsen (2g/4a), Kevin Castaneda (2g/4a) and Patrick Gryczewski (3g/2a) all have eight points on the season. Both of Gryczewski's assists and two of his three goals have been game-winners. Castaneda has one game-winning goal and one game-winning assist while Akselsen has scored one game-winner.
  • Akselsen picked up his 26th career assist against Saint Louis, passing head coach Gareth Elliott (1998-2001) and moving into fourth all-time in the Rhody record book.
  • For his career, Akselsen is averaging more than a point a game for the Rams as he currently has 58 career points (16g/26a) in 57 games played.
  • In total, 10 different players have registered either a goal or an assist for URI this season.
  • Freshman Max Hinke has played all 99:00 between the posts for URI. He owns a 1.45 goals against average and a .733 save percentage with two shutouts.
  • Rhody has faced three nationally-ranked teams this season: #21/14 Penn State (T, 1-1) #8/15 Hofstra (W, 2-0) and #18/24 Dayton (L, 2-0).
  • URI was picked to finish second in the 2022 Atlantic 10 preseason coaches poll.
  • The Rams returned 16 players from last year's team, including 10 starters.
  • Patrick Agyemang, Edvin Akselsen and Zach Drayer were named to the A-10's Preseason All-Conference Team.
  • Patrick Agyemang also was one of 38 Division I players named to the 2022 MAC Hermann Trophy Watch List. The Hermann Trophy is the nation's highest individual honor, recognizing the National Player of the Year as determined in voting by Division I coaches who are members of United Soccer Coaches. 
THE PATRIOTS (2-8-1, 1-3-1 Atlantic 10)
  • George Mason is winless (0-5-1) over its last six games, most recently falling to Duquesne 1-0 last Saturday in Fairfax, Va.
  • The Patriots are 0-6-0 when playing on the road this year.
  • In A-10 pay, Mason defeated St. Bonaventure (2-1), tied La Salle (0-0) and lost to Davidson (2-0), Dayton (4-0) and Duquesne (1-0).
  • George Mason has been outscored 24-8 and shut out six times this season.
  • The Patriots have been scoreless over their last 498:39 played. Their last goal came in the first half of a Sept. 20 game at Wake Forest.
  • Noah Raphael leads the team with two goals.
  • Ariel Aguas, Zach Eichelberger, Balint Kocso and Ahmed Mohamed each have a goal and an assist for the Patriots.
  • In total, nine different players have registered either a goal or an assist for George Mason.
  • Jake Langley has played all but 9:07 in goal this season. He is 2-8-1 with a 2.20 goals against average and a .642 save percentage.
