Agyemang, Akselsen, Drayer Earn A-10 Postseason Awards

KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island's Patrick Agyemang, Edvin Akselsen and Zach Drayer each have earned Atlantic 10 postseason accolades, announced Tuesday afternoon by the conference office. Agyemang was named to the conference's First Team for the second year in a row while Akselsen repeats as a second-team honoree. Additionally, both Akselsen and Drayer collected All-Academic honors.

Since joining the Rams as a transfer from Eastern Connecticut State, Agyemang (East Harford, Conn.) has recorded 19 goals and 12 assists, for 50 total points in just 37 games played. This season, he led the team in total points (16p/7g/2a) for the third year in a row. A three-time Atlantic 10 Player of the Week and two-time member of College Soccer News' National Team of the Week, he also was named to last year's A-10 All-Conference and All-Championship teams, and was recognized by United Soccer Coaches as one of the nation's top players this preseason. Including his two seasons at Eastern Connecticut State, he has recorded 49 goals and 22 assists, giving him an impressive 120 career points over 76 collegiate games played.

Akselsen tied for the team lead in assists this season (4) and also netted a pair of goals for the Rams. He has now earned All-Conference accolades in each of his four seasons played (2022, 2021, 2019, 2018). A two-time member of the Atlantic 10 All-Championship Team, Akselsen also landed a spot on the A-10's 2022 Preseason All-Conference Team and was recognized by United Soccer Coaches as one of the nation's top players earlier this season. A key part of Rhody's 2018 and 2019 A-10 championship runs, the Oslo, Norway native finished his career ranked fourth in program history with 26 career assists. Overall, he racked up 58 career points (16g/26a) in 62 games played.

In the classroom, Akselsen owns a 3.87 GPA as an MBA student who will graduate in December.

Drayer (Lancaster, N.Y.) collects his second consecutive Atlantic 10 All-Academic award after posting a 3.95 GPA as a Biological Sciences and Cell & Molecular Biology double major. A three-time team co-captain, he also has dual minors in Physics and Mathematics. On the field, he is a three-time A-10 Champion (two tournament titles, one regular season title) who has appeared in 72 career games. Playing primarily as a right back for the Rams, he has helped anchor a defense that combined for 26 shutouts over the last five seasons.

Rhode Island has now had multiple players selected to the 11-man All-Academic team in seven of head coach Gareth Elliott's 10 years at the helm of the program.
