How it Happened
South Alabama's Matt Boswell faced three over the minimum and held Rhode Island to just one hit through  six scoreless innings to start the game. By the time he exited the game in the top of the seventh, the Jaguars were leading 8-0.

The Rams got their first and only run of the game in the seventh inning when
Tommy Cartnick scored on an RBI single by
Addison Kopack. Cartnick had reached on a two-out error before moving to second on a base hit by
Anthony Raimo.
Addison Kopack then singled back up the middle to drive in Cartnick and make the score 8-1.

South Alabama got the run back in the bottom if the inning however, pushing the lead to 9-1.

URI advanced a runner to second in the eighth, and had two on in the ninth, but the Rams were unable to do any additional damage.
Inside the Box Score
- Sophomore Tommy Cartnick singled and scored Rhody's only run of the game.
- Redshirt sophomore Addison Kopack went 1-for-3 with a walk and an RBI.
- Freshman Eric Genther singled in the fourth. He has now reached base in each of URI's five games this season.
- Junior Domenic Picone was charged with the loss, allowing three runs (one earned) on two hits and four walks over a 3.1-inning start.
- Senior Jon Morrison tossed an inning and a third of scoreless relief for the Rams.
- Redshirt senior Todd Moxey pitched a 1-2-3 eighth.
