Rams Look For Third Straight Win Against Wagner Tuesday

RHODE ISLAND VS. WAGNER - SERIES NOTES
  • Rhode Island and Wagner have met one time previously.
  • Wagner defeated the Rams 63-61 on Dec. 17, 2005.
  • Tuesday's game will be the second for Rhode Island against a Northeast Conference opponent this season. The Rams defeated Central Connecticut State 81-70 in their season opener.
  • Wagner will be facing an Atlantic 10 team for the second time. The Seahawks fell at Fordham 68-64 in overtime in its season opener.
  • Rhode Island and Wagner are the two programs that Dan Hurley coached before he went to Connecticut, where he won a national title last season.
  • Hurley coached the Seahawks from 2010-12 and URI from 2012-18.
  • Wagner won last game, defeating Division II Molloy 83-48 Thursday night.

SCORING OUTBURSTS SPARK 2-0 START

  • Rhode Island has scored 174 points in the first two games of the season, as the Rams beat Central Connecticut State 81-70 and Fairfield 93-80.
  • It is the most points URI has scored in the first two games of the season since the start of the 2016-17 season.
  • That year, Rhody scored 191 points in the first two games, opening with an 84-61 win over Dartmouth and a 107-65 victory over Marist.
  • URI is averaging 87.0 points per game, which ranks 77th in the nation after the first week of the season.
  • A year ago, the Rams averaged 66.0 points per game, which ranked 308th in the country.

HOUSE EFFICIENT GETTING HIS BUCKETS

  • Guard Jaden House was highly efficient in scoring 22 points on 9-of-11 shooting in Thursday's win over Fairfield.
  • It was the 14th time in program history a player has shot .818 or better on at least 10 shot attempts.
  • The last to do so was Jeff Dowtin, who was 9-for-11 against Alabama on Nov. 15, 2009.
  • Dowtin and Cyril Langevine are the only players in team history to shoot .818 or better in a game more than once.
  • In addition to the Alabama game, Dowtin was 9-for-11 against Dayton on Feb. 24, 2018.
  • Langevine was .909 (10-for-11) against Massachusetts on March 9, 2019 and .900 (9-for-10) against La Salle on March 14, 2019.
  • The only Rhode Island player to be perfect on 10 or more shot attempts in a game was URI Hall of Famer Kenny Green, who was 10-for-10 against George Washington on Jan. 18, 1988.
