PLYMOUTH MEETING, Pa. – Sophomore Aidan O'Donovan shot a 3-over par 73 to helped Rhode Island place eight as a team at the Temple Invitational Sunday.

Lehigh's David Hurly was the medalist in the 78-player field. On Sunday, he had a 4-under 66, beating Drexel's Oscar Maxfield by one stroke. Rhode Island's top finisher was Bryson Richards, who tied for 13th overall.

Freshman Tony Liu shaved two strokes off his opening round to card a 75 for Rhode Island.

"As young as we are, we knew there would be some bumps," Rhode Island head coach Gregg Burke said. "Aidan played some solid golf for long stretches, and Tony showed just how great a player he will be as he learns how to play on northern grasses."

Senior Geronimo Narizzano shot a 76 on the second day despite dealing with a pair of double bogeys. Redshirt senior Bryson Richards wrapped up the URI scoring with a 77. He was 1-over through 13 holes before hitting a rough patch on the back nine.

Though he did not figure into the team score, freshman Owen Rooney made his collegiate debut, shooting 77-81=158 over the two rounds.

"Aside from a few bad holes, Geronimo was solid," Burke said. "I never worry about Bryson having a bad round because he bounces back so quickly. Owen will be fine once he gets over the confidence hit he took here. 

"We go from firm greens to softer greens when we go to Yale next week so that will be a mental adjustment we will have to pay a lot of attention to."

Rhode Island plays at the Macdonald Cup hosted by Yale Sept. 23-24.
