NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sophomore Aidan O'Donovan used a pair of consistent rounds to lead a young Rhode Island lineup at the 47th Macdonald Cup Saturday.

O'Donovan shot a plus-2 72 in each of the two rounds played at the 6,795-yard, par-70 Yale Golf Course. His performance has O'Donovan tied for sixth place in the 72-player field, just four strokes behind overall leader Gabriel Ruiz from Yale.

While O'Donovan shot a 72 in both rounds, he moved up five spots on the leaderboard after the second round. There were only 11 combined individual rounds of par or better for the entire field over the first two rounds.

In addition to O'Donovan, the Rams five-player lineup consisted of three freshman – Tony Liu, Owen Rooney and Seb Carlsson - and one senior, Geronimo Narizzano. Liu gave the Rams a solid day, shooting 73-75 to finish the day 8-over and in a tie for 22^nd place.

Narizzano (+13), Rooney (+15) and Carlsson (+17) are bunched closely for the Rams, landing in 46th, 54th and 55^th, respectively.

As a team, the Rams are tied for ninth place with Harvard heading into the tournament's final round. Host Yale is six stroke ahead of the field with a 572, followed by UC San Diego (578) and Seton Hall (579) in the top three. Teams in fourth through ninth are separated by just 12 strokes, leaving plenty of room for movement on Sunday.

The Rams will play with Harvard, Le Moyne and Fordham. Groups are scheduled to tee off at 9 a.m. Sunday.
