KINGSTON, R.I. - The Rhode Island women's track & field team had a successful at home at Mackal Field House, competing at the URI Invitational on Saturday.
The action was highlighted by a pair of first-place finishes for the Rams, both of which
Lily Saul had a hand in. After winning the 500m with a personal best and sophomore class record of 1:14.65, she teamed up with
Sydney Federico,
Amyah Santana and
Virsavia Goretoy to take first in the 4 x 400 relay (3:58.05). Rhody's entry was the only one to crack the four-minute mark.
Highlights
- Four Rams finished in the top 10 of the 500m. Saul was joined by Federico (1:17.20, fifth), Hanna O'Connor (1:18.84, seventh) and Elise LePage (1:19.79, ninth).
- Goretoy placed second in the long jump, with a mark of 5.48m. Jacqueline Edoro joined her in the top 10, finishing sixth (5.18m).
- Rhode Island's 'B' entry of O'Connor, Abby Colella, Lilly Pittakas and LePage came in fourth in the 4 x 400 relay (4:08.24).
- Megan Wood and Alyssa Yankee were fourth and sixth, respectively in the shot put. Wood's best throw was 13.68m, while Yankee's was 12.47m.
- Santana paced URI in the 400m, crossing the finish line in 1:00.45. Colella was seventh with a time of 1:01.11.
- Erynn Field led the Rams in the weight throw, coming in fourth with a 16.98m toss.
- The quartet of Corina Vidal, Olivia Skapczynski, Linsey Arends and Leyla Kvaternik was fourth in the 4 x 800 relay (9:58.75).
- Caroline Larkin's 3.35m effort in the pole vault was good for fourth. She was joined in the top 10 by seventh-place Katie Welsh (3.20m).
- Vidal placed a team-best sixth in the 800m, coming across the line at 2:24.68.
- Erin Hurley cracked into the top 10 of the 1000m, landing seventh (2:58.86).

URI will continue its slate with a meet at the Riverhawk Invitational on Friday, Jan. 26. Members of the team will compete at Boston University's John Thomas Terrier Classic Invitational the following day.
