RHODE ISLAND VS. NEW HAMPSHIRE - SERIES NOTES

  • No. 16/17 Rhode Island and No. 19/24 New Hampshire will face each other for the 98th time in their shared history, which dates back to 1905.
  • New Hampshire leads the overall series 61-31-5.
  • Rhode Island is 9-35-3 as the road team in the series, including 12 straight losses in Durham.
  • The last time the Rams won at New Hampshire was a 10-7 victory in 1995. 
  • The Rams have won two of the last three meetings, including a 34-28 overtime victory last season.
  • Running back Ja'Den McKenzie rushed for four touchdowns, including the game winner on a 1-yard plunge in overtime to lead Rhode Island to the win.
  • Both teams are 2-0 in CAA Football play. Rhode Island has a 21-9 win over Campbell and a 46-44 double-overtime victory at Hampton. The Wildcats defeated Bryant 38-17 and at Elon, 17-10.
  • Rhode Island and New Hampshire also have both faced Holy Cross this season. URI beat the Crusaders 20-17 in its season opener, and New Hamphire beat Holy Cross 21-20 the following week. 
COMEBACK KIDS GETTING IT DONE IN KINGSTON
  • Last Saturday's win over Brown marked the third straight game and the fourth time this season Rhode Island has won a game in which it trailed during the fourth quarter.
  • Against Brown, URI trailed 21-17 at the start of the fourth, but outscored Brown 14-0 in the quarter.
  • A week earlier, Rhody trailed by as many as 14 points at Hampton - including 31-17 with 7:02 left in the fourth quarter. The Rams scored 14 unanswered points, with a touchdown by Malik Grant with 24 seconds left in regulation to tie it before eventually winning 46-44 in double overtime.
  • On Sept. 21 at LIU, Rhody was down 14-7 at the start of the fourth quarter and trailed 21-14 with 9:13 to go, but Grant scored the go-ahead touchdown with 1:08 left.
  • In the season opener, Holy Cross took its first lead, 17-13, with 1:47 remaining. Devin Farrell orchestrated the winning drive in the final seconds, hitting Shawn Harris, Jr. with a 31-yard touchdown pass with just 19 seconds to go.  

RAMS LOOK FOR THIRD STRAIGHT ROAD WIN

  • Rhode Island is looking to win its third straight road game when it visits New Hampshire.
  • Rhody won 28-21 at LIU on Sept. 21 and then 46-44 in double overtime at Hampton on Oct. 5.
  • The last time the Rams won three consecutive road games in the same season was 2001, when they won four in a row: 10-7 at Delaware, 16-12 at James Madison, 42-38 at Brown; and 56-7 at Hampton.
