Sophomore
Julianna Tyler won two events and placed third in another to score 21 team points on her own for Rhode Island, but it was not enough as the Rams fell at Northeastern 169-124 Saturday afternoon.
After the host Huskies won the first six events of the meet, Tyler got Rhode Island (1-1) on track with a victory in the 200-yard butterfly. Her time of 2:06.50 was well ahead of the field, as Northeastern's Kate Kerber was second with a time of 2:10.31.
Tyler added three points with a third-place finish in the 100 butterly. Then she came right back in the next event to win the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:11.43. She led a 1-2-3 finish for the Rams, as teammates
Sarah Koenig (2:14.02) and
Lily Gugino (2:14.82) took second and third, respectively.
Tyler also helped URI's 200 medley relay team place third. She teamed with
Erin Terman,
Hannah Benavides and
Abby Zadorozny to score two team points in the event.
Standouts from the Pool
- Sophomore Avery Potyrala won the 50-yard freestyle for the second meet in a row with a time of 24.78 seconds.
- Junior Rylee Kelly won the 500 freestyle to lead a 1-2-3 finish in the event. Kelly (5:11.13) who won by nearly six seconds ahead of the field, was followed by fellow Rams freshman Mary McCormick (5:17.09) and senior Emma Lee (5:20.44).
- Kelly also placed second in the 200 freestyle.
- Senior Hannah Benavides won the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:23.30 and placed second in the 100 breaststroke, just getting outouched by Northeastern's Elisabeth Bendall (1:06.58 to 1:06.78).

Rhode Island visits Northeastern for a head-to-head meet on Saturday, Oct. 19. The meet begins at 1 p.m.
