RHODE ISLAND VS. DUQUESNE - SERIES NOTES
  • Rhode Island and Duquesne are playing for the 26th time in program history.
  • Rhody leads the all-time series, 16-9.
  • The teams last meet in the 2021 Atlantic 10 Championship semifinals, a 2-1 victory for Duquesne.
  • Wednesday is the first regular-season meeting between the teams since 2018, when the Dukes registered a 3-1 victory over the Rams.
  • Before that, Rhode Island had won four straight matches in the series from 2014-17.
  • Rhode Island is 4-6 all time when playing at Duquesne.

A LOOK AT THE OPPONENT 

  • Duquesne has been outstanding at home, going 5-0 this season and winning its last eight matches overall at Rooney Field, dating back to last season.

  • The Dukes have been consistently been among the top teams in the Atlantic 10 over the last few years, going 36-20-10 overall and 13-7-7 in league play since 2021. 
  • Duquesne is coming off a 3-0 loss at Saint Louis on Saturday, its first league loss of the year. 
  • Maxi Hopfer leads the Atlantic 10 and is third in the nation with three game-winning goals.
  • He leads the Dukes with four goals and 10 points overall.
  • Keeper Zoltan Nagy has allowed 11 goals in 10 matches, good for a 1.16 goals-against average.
  • Head coach Chase Brooks is in his 12th season at Duquesne. His 29 wins from 2021-23 were the most for the program since the Dukes won 36 from 2004-06. 
  • With an overall record of 84-85-26, Brooks is the all-time leader in wins for Duquesne men's soccer. 

ETXEGARAI PROVIDING A LIFT TO OFFENSE   

  • Junior forward Íñigo Etxegarai has been highly productive since being inserted into the starting lineup over the last five matches.
  • He has three goals and one assist over the last five matches, all of which have been starts.
  • In the five matches, Etxegarai played 416 minutes combined.
  • In the first six matches of the season, Etxegarai played 260 minutes combined as a reserve.
  • He had no goals and one assist in the first six matches of the season. 
  • Last season, Etxegarai had one goal and two assists over 15 appearances, including 11 starts.
