KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island split its tri-meet against Atlantic 10 schools Saturday, defeating Massachusetts 153-106 but falling to La Salle 137-122.
Rhode Island (3-3) won four of the 14 events, with four different women each grabbing a victory.
Senior
Maddie Tetreault won the 800-yard Freestyle in a time of 8:35.25. Fellow Ram
Cate Carboni added a third-place finish in the event with her time of 8:41.01.
Freshman
Julia Havice was victorious in the 50 Freestyle by the slimmest of margins. Her time of 24.42 edged Courtney Tededsco by .01 seconds. Havice later added a second-place finish in the 100 Backstroke.
Junior
Rylee Kelly won the 500 Freestyle by nearly five seconds. She finished in 5:10.57, well ahead of Anna Kwon from UMass (5:15.34).
Senior
Hannah Benavides claimed the win in the 100 Breaststroke. Her time of 1:05.36 held off UMass' Lindsay Burbage by .60 seconds.
Standouts from the Pool
- Junior Ella Hacker and sophomore Julianna Tyler were second and third in an absolutely thrilling 100 Butterfly. The top three finishers were separated by .02 of a second, as La Salle's Camilla Frost won in a time of 57.89 seconds, followed by Hacker (57.90) and Tyler (57.92).
- Junior Rylee Kelly and freshman Mary McCormick gave Rhode Island second and third place, respectively, in the 200 Freestyle.
- Freshman Emma Raser placed second in the 200 Individual Medley. She was just .43 seconds behind La Salle's Beren Celik.
- Junior Olivia Winslow led URI in the 1-meter dive, placing second with a score of 282.65.
- Junior Lily Hsu was Rhody's top performer in the 3-meter dive, taking second with a score of 277.20.

Rhode Island is off for the winter break and will return to the pool on Sunday, Jan. 12 when it hosts New Hampshire. It will be the team's Senior Day meet in Tootell Aquatic Center.
