KINGSTON, R.I. - Lily Saul reclaimed her title in the 800m as the Rhode Island women's track & field team finished seventh at the 2023-24 Atlantic 10 Indoor Track & Field Championship on Saturday afternoon.
The Rams scored 56 points in Virginia Beach to finish ahead of eighth-place La Salle (48 points) and behind sixth-place Dayton (66 points).Â
Saul defended her title, crossing the line in 2:08.15 to score 10 points. The only champion for URI on the women's side of the meet, she ran the program's best-ever time at the championship competition.
Hanna O'Connor also had a podium finish, running a personal best time of 2:52.20 to place second in the 1000m. Rhode Island's relay quartet of
Elise LePage, Saul, Sophia Vidal and O'Connor became the team's other top-three finish by doing so in the 4x800 (9:00.93).
Highlights
- Megan Wood threw an indoor personal best of 45' 9 1/2" in the shot put to place fifth and collect four points. Alyssa Yankee's personal best throw of 42' 3 1/4" was good for ninth.
- Sydney Federico had a personal best time in the 500m at 1:15.84, good for sixth and three points.
- Jacqueline Edoro was seventh in the triple jump and scored two points (37' 2 1/4").
- Virsavia Goretoy finished eighth in the 60m Hurdles to score a point, coming across in 9.11. seconds.
- Federico, Amyah Santana, Goretoy and Saul scored a point in the 4x400 relay by finishing eighth (3:54.68).
