SNOW HILL, N.C. – A tough opening round saw Rhode Island finish Day One of the Cutter Creek Intercollegiate in last place in the 15-team field Friday.

Bryson Richards was Rhody's top scorer on the day, shooting a one-over 73 to land in a tie for 22nd on the individual leaderboard. Richards is within five strokes of overall leader Phillip Linberg Bondestad from East Carolina.

Tony Liu was the only other team member among the top 40. He shot a plus-3 75 to find himself tied for 38th overall.
Co-host East Carolina has a four-stroke lead on the field after the opening round. Campbell (288) is in second place, followed by Harvard and co-host Elon, which are tied for third with matching scores of 291. Rhode Island posted a team score of 308, two shots behind Delaware.
