KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island Women's Track & Field wrapped up its weekend by competing at both NC State's Raleigh Relays and Bryant's Black & Gold Invitational on Saturday afternoon.
Lily Saul and
Hanna O'Connor represented the Rams in North Carolina, while the rest of the team competed in Smithfield, R.I.
Highlights of the day included a pair of first-place finishes in both the long and triple jump by
Virsavia Goretoy and
Jacqueline Edoro. Goretoy lept 18' 6.5" in the long jump, two inches better than second place, while Edoro turned in a mark of 38' 7.5" in the triple jump, six inches ahead of the rest of the field.Â
As a team, the Rams finished fourth out of 15 teams at the Black & Gold Invitational with 77.75 points. Bryant, Brown and UMass Amherst took the top three spots, in order.Â
Highlights
- Lily Saul ran a personal best in the 800m, crossing in 2:07.75 to finish 26th. She was less than half a second off of a top-20 pace.
- Hanna O'Connor also turned in a PB in the same event, finishing 86th at 2:12.66.Â
- Goretoy had another scoring finish in the 100m Hurdles (14.29), placing second.Â
- The quartet of Olivia Skapczynski, Leyla Kvaternik, Linsey Arends and Madeline Till finished third in the 4 x 800m Relay (9:45.04).
- Amyah Santana, Sydney Federico, Goretoy and Hileni Mor were fourth in the 4 x 100m Relay (48.80).
- Sofia Piccone crossed fourth in the 5000m with a time of 17:43.90.
- Alyssa Yankee scored in the discus, coming in at fifth overall with a 130' 3" toss.
- Elise LePage placed fifth in the 1500m (4:40.25).
- Sydney Federico scored in the 200m with her eighth-place run (26.04). Goretoy was just 0.13 seconds off of a scoring finish, coming in at No. 10 (26.20).Â
- Brynne Wright picked up a point in the steeplechase, coming in eighth (13:09.60).
- Katie Welsh, Caroline Larkin and Sarah Parr tied for eighth in the pole vault after clearing 10' 7".Â
