KINGSTON, R.I. - The Rhode Island women's track & field team finished third at the Holy Cross Invitational in Worcester, Mass. on Saturday.
URI accumulated 97 points, finishing behind the host Crusaders (180 points) and UMass (167 points) while besting four other programs.Â
Lily Saul and
Jacqueline Edoro led the Rams with a pair of first-place finishes. Saul won the 800m in 2:11.05, while Edoro took home the triple jump with a 30' 0.25" effort.Â
Highlights
- Erynn Field finished second in the weight throw with a 164' 11" toss.Â
- Virsavia Goretoy lept to a second-place finish in the long jump (18' 6.5").Â
- Federico, Saul, Goretoy and Amyah Santana were less than a second off of the winning pace in the 4 x 400m Relay, coming just behind first-place Holy Cross with a time of 3:53.07.Â
- Kayla Clark ran a collegiate-best time in the 100m hurdles, coming in third overall at 14.48 seconds.Â
- Rhode Island had four scorers in the pole vault, led bhy Caroline Larkin's third-place effort (10' 11.75"). Katie Welsh (fifth, 10' 11.75"), Olivia Priest (sixth, 10' 11.75") and Sophie Haygymas (seventh, 10'6") helped URI pick up 13.5 total points.
- Alyssa Yankee recorded a 123' 7" throw in the shotput to place sixth.Â
- Sydney Federico scored four points with a sixth-place finish in the 400m, crossing in 58.21 seconds.Â
- The team of Goretoy, Federico, Santana and Hileni Mor was fourth in the 4 x 100m relay (48.96).Â
- Sofia Piccone ran a 4:44.42 in the 1500m, good for fourth overall. Erin Hurley (sixth, 4:47.29), Madeline Till (third, 4:48.69) and Olivia Skapczynski (ninth, 4:53.96) also had scoring finishes.Â
- Linsey Arends also scored for the Rams in the 800m, grabbing one point with an eighth-place finish (2:17.08). She was followed closely by teammate Elise LePage (ninth, 2:17.22).
- Alexis Zarr finished eighth in the high jump (4' 9.75").Â
- Brynne Wright was eighth in the 2000m steeplechase (8:37.75).Â
