KENSINGTON, Conn. – Three of Rhode Island's top four players shot 2-under par Sunday in the second and final day of the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate, sparking the Rams to the team title.
Rhody was one of just two teams in the 16-team field to finish under par. With freshman
Tyler Bruneau, junior
Aidan O'Donovan and freshman
Luke Stennett all going 2-under on the day, URI topped second-place Sacred Heart by two strokes. The rest of the field was at least six shots behind the Rams.
Bruneau was electric in the first tournament of his career. After collecting six birdies on Saturday, he followed that up with four more Sunday. He finished in third place overall, just one stroke behind Army's John Heckel and Sacred Heart's Mike Rothberg.
O'Donovan continued his strong play Sunday. He birdied five of the first 10 holes, helping Rhody extend its lead early. Stennett finished his first tournament tied for 10th overall. He offered two late birdies, carding them on No. 16 and No. 18 to help put the team title away.

Rhode Island head coach Gregg Burke said...
"This was a great win for the team and the program. At one point on the back nine, we were down five but came back for the win.
"Obviously Tyler was sensational in first fall his full tournament. Luke going two under down the stretch was huge as well. But the guy who kept us alive yesterday and really powered us to the front in the first 13 or 14 holes was Aidan. He ran into a little trouble on 16 and 17, but he gutted out a great par on 18, which I believe gave us the win.
"This was a special tournament for number of reasons. We had a very real chance to win at N.C. State before the rain came. Secondly, it was assistant coach
Brandon Gillis'Â head coach debut, and he did a spectacular job.
For me personally for our program to win, a trophy named after one of my dearest friends in Paul Dillon, it's something I'll remember the rest of my life. Now it's back to work back to qualifying and getting ready for GreatHorse.
