Rams Welcome Northeastern to Tootell

KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island welcomes Northeastern to the Tootell Aquatic Center Saturday for its home opener. The meet begins at 12 p.m.

Series History - Rhode Island vs. Northeastern
  • Rhode Island and Northeastern are meeting for the 15th time overall and the second year in a row.
  • The teams are meeting for the third time in the last four seasons.
  • Last year, Northeastern won 169-124.
  • Rhode Island's Julianna Tyler won two events the last time the teams met. She took the 200-yard butterfly and the 200 individual medley.
  • Rylee Kelly won the 500 freestyle to lead a 1-2-3 finish for URI in the event. Kelly (5:11.13) won by nearly six seconds ahead of the field
  • Kelly also placed second in the 200 freestyle.
  • Avery Potyrala won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.78 seconds last year.
A Look at the Opponent
  • Northeastern defeated Vermont 192-108 in its season opener.
  • Anelise Kim won both the 1- and 3-meter diving events in the meet.
  • Three freshmen for the Huskies won events in the opener. Abigail Gowern earned her first victory in the 1000 Free, finishing with a time of 10:29.11. Siena Griffiths was victorious in the 200 Yard Free with a time of 1:55.09, and Sophie Bromley won the 100 Yard Back with a time of 57.67.
