KINGSTON, R.I. -
Marquis Buchanan was named to the 2025 Walter Camp Football Foundation FCS Player of the Year Watch List, the foundation announced Monday afternoon.
Buchanan is one of 15 players named to the list. He joins Josh Derry (Monmouth) and Bryce Lance (North Dakota State) as the wide receivers considered for the honor. The award will be determined in mid-December.
Buchanan is enjoying a historic season for Rhode Island. After a 138-yard performance at Maine on Nov. 15, Buchanan surpassed 1,000 receiving yards for the second consecutive season. Buchanan's 1,040 receiving yards in 2025 is eighth most in program history in a single season.
Buchanan is averaging 94.5 receiving yards per game this season. That is best in the CAA and third-best nationally. He is fourth-best in the FCS with 59 catches.
Joining just Brian Forster (1984, 1985), Buchanan is the second Ram to tally over 1,000 receiving yards in multiple seasons. Buchanan had 1,124 receiving yards in 2024. His 2,802 career receiving yards is third most in program history. He is behind Forster (3,944) and Aaron Parker (3,460) on the all-time list. Buchanan ranks fifth in program history with 183 receptions. His 17 career touchdowns is sixth best in program history.
Buchanan and the Rams conclude the regular season on Saturday, Nov. 22 when they host Hampton at Meade Stadium. The game is set for 1 p.m.
