Rams, Friars Do Battle Wednesday

KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island and Providence meet up for mid-week competition spread over two sites Wednesday evening. The swimming events will be held at Providence's Taylor Natatorium, while the diving events will be held in URI's Tootell Aquatic Center. Both portions of the meet begin at 5 p.m.

Series History - Rhode Island vs. Providence
  • Rhode Island and Providence are meeting for the 31st time overall.
  • The Rams hold a decisive 23-7 edge in the series.
  • Last season, URI hosted and won 171.5-103.5.
  • Rhody won 13 of the 14 events in last season's meet.
  • Providence won 157-124 in 2023.
  • Dating back to 2005, that is PC's lone win in the series. Rhode Island has won 19 of the last 20 meetings.
Meet Notes
  • Freshman Molly Beckwith has won the 200-yard freestyle in all three meets of the season.
  • Her time of 1:53.86 against Connecticut ranks 10th in the Atlantic 10 this year.
  • Junior Julianna Tyler has done the same in the 200-yard butterfly.
  • Senior Olivia Winslow has won the 1-meter dive in every meet she has competed. She also has won two of three appearances in the 3-meter dive. In the one meet she didn't win the meet, she placed second.
