Record-Setting Performance Keys Rams On Opening Night of Anderson Invitational

Day One Results

KINGSTON, R.I.
- Rhode Island's 800-yard freestyle relay team set the Tootell Aquatic Center record in the event, highlighting a strong opening night at the Harold Anderson Invitational Thursday.

The team of Molly Beckwith, Mary McCormick, Avery Potyrala and Rylee Kelly won the event in a time of 7:29.31, beating second-place New Hampshire by slightly more than five seconds. The time smashed the previous facility record of 7:48.33 set in November of 2019. That time came from the team of Aimee Garcia, Zoe Sheridan, Sabrina Anderson and MacKenna Dunn.

The record-setting performance was part of 62 points the Rams earned in the event. URI got 40 points for winning the race, place an additional 22 points for an eighth-place finish from the team of Emma Bertotto, Zara Beaumont, Julianna Tyler and Emma Raser.

Rhode Island finished the first day in second place behind Vermont in the eight-team meet. The Catamounts have 118 points, followed by URI (110), New Hampshire (108), Holy Cross (80) and Wagner (72) in the top five.
