Day One Results
KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island's 800-yard freestyle relay team set the Tootell Aquatic Center record in the event, highlighting a strong opening night at the Harold Anderson Invitational Thursday.
The team of
Molly Beckwith,
Mary McCormick,
Avery Potyrala and
Rylee Kelly won the event in a time of 7:29.31, beating second-place New Hampshire by slightly more than five seconds. The time smashed the previous facility record of 7:48.33 set in November of 2019. That time came from the team of Aimee Garcia, Zoe Sheridan, Sabrina Anderson and MacKenna Dunn.
The record-setting performance was part of 62 points the Rams earned in the event. URI got 40 points for winning the race, place an additional 22 points for an eighth-place finish from the team of
Emma Bertotto,
Zara Beaumont,
Julianna Tyler and
Emma Raser.
Rhode Island finished the first day in second place behind Vermont in the eight-team meet. The Catamounts have 118 points, followed by URI (110), New Hampshire (108), Holy Cross (80) and Wagner (72) in the top five.
Day One of the Anderson featured the 800 freestyle relay and the 200-yard medley relay. Vermont won the 200-yard medley relay. Rhody scored 48 points in the event, getting a fourth-place finish from the team of
Lily Mair,
Maddy Deeney,
Molly Beckwith and
Abby Zadorozny and a ninth-place finish from
Chloe Robinson,
Carolyn Wanosik,
Julianna Tyler and
Julia Havice.
Individual events get underway Friday at the Anderson Invitational. Preliminaries begin at 10 a.m., with finals at 5 p.m. Friday's event list is below. The 1-meter diving starts at 1 p.m.
