RHODE ISLAND VS. TULSA - SERIES NOTES
- Rhode Island and Tulsa are meeting for the fourth time.
- Tulsa has won each of the three meetings, the most recent of which was at the 2021 Sunshine Slam in Daytona Beach, Fla.
- The Golden Hurricane won that contest, 77-71.
- Both teams won their respective season openers. Rhode Island beat Stetson, 93-62, while Tulsa knocked off Oklahoma Christian, 100-57.
- Former Rhode Island player David Green is in his first season with Tulsa.
- He had 15 points to lead four players in double figures in the win over Oklahoma Christian.
- Green was named to the American Conference Preseason Second Team.
VETERAN'S CLASSIC ON TAP FOR RHODE ISLAND
- Rhode Island and Tulsa are competing as part of the 2025 Veteran's Classic.
- The Navy-hosted event is a nationally-televised doubleheader on CBS Sports Network.
- For fans attending the game, there will be a shuttle bus that runs from the football stadium to the basketball arena starting at 4 p.m.
- Anyone using the shuttle bus must have either a government issued passport or a state issued drivers license with REAL ID.
- Rhode Island will take on Tulsa in the first game at 6 p.m.
- The nightcap will feature Navy taking on Yale at 8:30 p.m.
- Rhode Island will play at Yale on Nov. 18.
- This is the 12th annual Veteran's Classic.
- The day before the game, the team will spend the morning touring the Naval Academy before attending a special reception and dinner for all of the participants.
STEALING THE SHOW
- Rhode Island recorded 16 steals in the season-opening victory over Stetson.
- Tyler Cochran led the way with four steals, while Myles Corey added three.
- It was the most steals the Rams have had in a single game in 16 years, dating back to 16 against La Salle on Jan. 31, 2009.
- It was tied for the seventh most in a game in program history.
- The program record is 20, which Rhode Island has done twice. It had 20 against Oregon on Dec. 9, 1980 and against the Citadel on Nov. 27, 1987.
- Rhody did not have more than 10 steals in any games last season.
- The 16 steals helped Rhode Island scored 32 points off turnovers.
- The most URI scored off turnovers in any game last season was 21 against Holy Cross.
