KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island Women's Track & Field began its outdoor slate with competition at UCF's Black & Gold Invitational in Orlando, Fla.
The Rams were in action both Friday and Saturday, with 10 different student-athletes representing the program across 12 different events.Â
Megan Wood had the strongest performance for the team, finishing in the top 10 in three different field events. The team captain placed fourth overall in the discus (150' 6"), fifth in the shotput (46' 6 1/4") and eighth in the hammer (166' 7").
Highlights
- Alyssa Yankee finished eighth in the discus with a 145' 11" toss.
- Rhody's 4x400 quartet placed 10th overall with a time of 3:45.94.Â
- The team of Nyah Santana, Sydney Federico, Abigail Colella and Odette van Wyk finished 13th in the 4x100 Relay with a time of 46.87. The group was less than half a second off of a top-10 pace.Â
- Making her collegiate debut, Norah Kobaly placed 14th in the javelin with a mark of 110' 6".Â

Members of the Rhody squad will compete at the Raleigh Relays, hosted by NC State, beginning on Thursday, March 27. That same weekend, URI will also send a contingent to Bryant's Black & Gold Invitational.Â
