RHODE ISLAND VS. SAINT LOUIS - SERIES NOTES
- The Rams and the Billikens have played one another 35 times heading into this weekend's series at Bill Beck Field.
- Saint Louis has a narrow 19-16 advantage in the all-time history, which dates back to 1982.
- That record was bolstered last year when the Billikens swept URI in a three-game series at the Billiken Sports Center.
- SLU opened up the weekend with a 3-2 win before taking the Rams down, 8-1 and 7-3.
- The series kicked off a 2024 conference slate for the Billikens that ended with them winning the Atlantic 10 Regular Season Championship, the program's first title since 2018.
- Prior to their meeting in 2024, the last time that the programs faced off was back in 2022 in Kingston.
- URI grabbed the first two games (9-8; 19-13) before dropping game three (6-12).
SENIOR DAY
- Rhode Island will honor its 10-member senior class this weekend, comprised of seven position players, two pitchers and one utility player.
- The Rams will celebrate catcher Rob Butler, who participated in last year's festivities, along with third baseman Anthony DePino, right fielder Eric Genther, right-handed pitcher Brandon Hsu, infielder Ryan King, utility player Brody Levin, left-handed pitcher Trystan Levesque, center fielder Brody McKenzie, outfielder Nic Notarangelo and first baseman DJ Perron.
- Additionally, in an effort spearheaded by sport administrator Jeff Johnson, the Rams will hold a makeshift graduation ceremony on Saturday evening.
- The University of Rhode Island Commencement Weekend is scheduled for Friday, May 16. At that time, URI will be on the road at Saint Joseph's.
- URI President Marc Parlange will be in attendance to confer degrees upon the graduating baseball student-athletes. The event will only be open to members of the program and their families.
RUNNIN' RAMS
- With two weeks left in the regular season, URI ranks sixth in the country with 449 runs scored.
- After putting up a whopping 36 runs in a victory over William & Mary back on opening weekend (Feb. 16), the Rams have scored double-digit runs in 19 of their 48 games.
- Rhody also checks into the nation's top 10 in triples (23; fifth) and scoring (9.4; sixth), while sitting just outside in on-base percentage (.430; 12th).
- As a team, Rhode Island's 69 home runs are the second-most in any season in program history.
- URI's record of 78 was set during the 2023 campaign.
