RHODE ISLAND AT GEORGE WASHINGTON - SERIES NOTES

  • Rhode Island opens up conference play against Atlantic 10 foe George Washington on Friday, March 13. The Rams and Revolutionaries will play a three-game series in the nation's capital. 
  • The Rams lead the all-time series against George Washington 31-26 in 57 meetings. 
  • The first meeting between the programs was in 1993. The most recent meeting was last season. 
  • George Washington took the series over Rhode Island last season in a three-game set in Kingston. 
  • After taking game one 8-2 on Friday, March 21, 2025, Rhode Island then dropped the Saturday and Sunday meetings against the Revolutionaries in consecutive ninth-inning collapses. 
  • In game two of last year's series, Rhode Island carried a 7-2 lead into the sixth inning. George Washington then scored six unanswered runs over the course of the next four innings to win the game 8-7.
  • The George Washington run was capped off by two ninth-inning runs to tie the game and notch the eventual game winner. 
  • Rhode Island's Saturday loss snapped a nine-game winning streak. 
  • In 2025's Sunday series finales, Rhode Island scored five runs in the bottom of the seventh to take a 9-6 lead into the eighth. 
  • The Revolutionaries scored four runs in the top of the ninth and blanked the Rams in the bottom half of the frame to claim the series

RAMS OFFENSE SURGES IN LAST TWO GAMES 

  • Over Rhode Island's first 12 games of the season, the Rams notched 86 hits, scored 41 runs, and batted .223. 
  • In its last two games, including wins over Brown and New Haven, Rhode Island's offensive numbers have surged. The Rams have a team batting average of .405 with 30 hits and 29 runs scored over the last two games.
  • Rhode Island had 19 hits at Brown on March 7 and 11 hits against New Haven on March 10. Prior to that, Rhode Island had just one game across the team's first 12 games with double-digit hits. That came on Feb. 27 when the Rams had 19 hits against Kent State in 13 innings.
  • Over the Rams back-to-back wins, the team has elevated its team batting average from .223 to .253.
  • Rhode Island has 12 extra-base hits in its last two games including four home runs. Rhode Island had seven home runs over its first 12 games, two of which came at Alabama in game two of Feb. 21's doubleheader in Tuscaloosa. 
  • Rhode Island has three triples in the last two games, despite have none in the opening 12 games.
