Rams Welcome New Haven in Home Opener

RHODE ISLAND VS. NEW HAVEN - SERIES NOTES
  • Rhode Island hosts New Haven at Bill Beck Field in Kingston, R.I. in the Rams home opener on Tuesday, March 10. 
  • This is the first meeting between Rhode Island and New Haven.
  • The Rams and Chargers will meet again this season on Tuesday, April 28 at 3 p.m. in West Haven, Conn.
  • Rhode Island head coach Raphael Cerrato was previously the head coach of New Haven from 2007 to 2011. He won 131 games as the Chargers skipper before returning to Rhode Island in 2012 as an assistant under then head coach Jim Foster. 
  • Cerrato took over as the head coach of the Rams in 2015.
  • New Haven is currently in its first season as a member of the Northeast Conference.
  • New Haven accepted its invitation to the NEC in May 2025 and began its membership on July 1, 2025. Prior to joining the NEC, the Chargers were NCAA Division II.
RHODE ISLAND READY FOR ITS HOME OPENER
  • The Rams were scheduled to play their home opener on Tuesday, March 3 against Sacred Heart but the game was canceled due to the field conditions of Bill Beck Field. 
  • Rhode Island was also slated to host Brown on Saturday, March 7 in a doubleheader but the games were shifted to Brown's Murray Stadium in Providence, R.I. due to Bill Beck Field's condition. 
  • Rhode Island began its season with 13-straight road games including series at Jacksonville, Alabama, Kent State and Brown.
