KINGSTON, R.I. - Rhode Island moved up to No. 8 in the American Football Coaches Association FCS Coaches Top 25 and stayed steady at No. 9 in the Stats Perform FCS Top 25 in this week's national polls.
The Rams moved up two spots in the AFCA poll following their opening-week win over Campbell. Rhody won 31-20, extending its home winning streak to 10 games, the fourth-longest active streak in the country.
The top three teams are the same in both polls, with North Dakota State, South Dakota State and Montana State being 1-2-3 in each. Tarleton State is tied for No. 3 in the AFCA poll, and ranked fifth in the Stats Perform poll.
Rhode Island received 440 points in the AFCA poll, just six behind Illinois State. The Rams earned 953 points in the Stats Perform poll, five points behind UC Davis and eight behind Illinois State.
The Rams play their second straight CAA Football contest to begin the season when they visit Stony Brook Saturday, Sept. 6. The Seawolves received votes in both polls.
