Groff Named CAA Football Co-Special Teams Player of the Week

KINGSTON, R.I. - Kicker Ty Groff was named the CAA Football Co-Special Teams Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday morning.

In the Rams' Governor's Cup win over Brown on Saturday, Groff drilled two 43-yard field goals to help lift the Rams over the Bears 13-10. Groff's second field goal was the game winner coming with 11 seconds left in the fourth quarter.

This is Groff's second career weekly CAA Football honor and first since Sept. 18, 2023. A then freshman, Groff made his first two career field goals at Maine, converting a 47-yard attempt that at the time tied for seventh longest in program history. Groff was named the league's Special Teams Player of the Week.

Groff shared the weekly recognition with UAlbany running back / punt returner RaShan La Mons who tallied 156 all-purpose yards and two touchdowns in the Great Danes 28-3 win over Delaware State.

After a week off for the bye, Rhode Island has a second straight Ivy League opponent next week when it travels to Yale for a game on Saturday, Oct. 17. Kickoff is 12 p.m.
