KINGSTON, R.I. - For the second time in as many weeks, Rhode Island sophomore
Luke Stennett was named the Atlantic 10 Men's Golf Player of the Week, the league announced Monday evening.
It is the fourth time in his career Stennett has earned the honor. Last week he won his second individual title in as many events by topping the 75-player, 15-team field at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial Collegiate. He was 9-under par for the two-round tournament, finishing four strokes ahead of the second-place finisher.
In 36 holes, he had 10 birdies and one eagle. In his opening round, Stennett was 7-under par without any bogies. He had five birdies, one eagle and 12 pars in the round.
Stennett has won three straight regular-season tournaments, dating back to last season. His effort led Rhode Island to its second straight team title this season, as well as a successful defense of the team title at the Ryan T. Lee Memorial.
