RHODE ISLAND VS. ST. JOHN'S - SERIES NOTES
- Rhode Island and St. John's are playing for the second straight season, and the fifth time overall.
- The Rams hold a 3-1 edge in the series, including a 2-0 victory last season in Kingston.
- Last year's match was the season opener for both schools.
- Joan Sanchis and Lucas Lykkegaard each scored for Rhode Island in the meeting. Lykkegard's goal came with just a few seconds remaining in regulation.
- Sanchis has yet to play this season.
- Before last season, the teams had not played each other since 1983.
- They met each season for three straight years from 1981-83.
- This is Rhode Island's second visit to Queens. The first came in a 2-1 overtime loss in 1982.
A LOOK AT THE OPPONENTÂ
- St. John's is coming off a 1-1 tie with No. 2 Marshall, which the Red Storm hosted on Friday night.
- It was the team's second straight draw with a top-five team. St. John's tied No. 5 Wake Forest 0-0 on Aug. 31.
- The only loss for St. John's this season was to then-No. 23 Hofstra, a 2-0 road defeat on Aug. 24.
- Guilherme Gomes has scored four of the seven goals St. John's has on the season.Â
- All four of his goals came in a 5-0 win over New Hampshire on Aug. 28.
- St. John's has just two goals combined in its four other non-New Hampshire matches thus far.
- Keeper Alec McLachlin has allowed just three goals in five starts. He has a 0.60 goals-against average and a .786 save percentage, recording 11 saves.Â
